wasthenthere.com (bizarro benowhere.com)

A word from the Webmaster:

I haven't been sure what to do with the old benowhere.com ever since I moved from Indianapolis to San Francisco two and a half years ago. I worked on the site from spring 1999 to fall 2000, a very difficult yet incredibly stimulating phase of my life. I had learned a great deal about myself, but I still wasn't at all comfortable with myself. I had realized that I was simply perpetuating roles that I (with the help of my environment) had created for myself in the 27 years of staying in relatively the same place.

I knew I had to start my life completely over, but I was terrified to do so. Change is difficult. Finally, I found the courage to move to San Francisco on December 30, 2000, completely on my own. My first year in SF was extremely rough but equally fun in some strange way. San Francisco is so stimulating that you're forced to really live. Every experience I've had in San Francisco has been fully my own and hugely responsible for who I currently am.

So, here I am with this great, new, revamped benowhere.com, and I'm not sure where to put the old one. I can't just toss the whole site. And although some parts of it are pretty embarassingly personal, I don't want to rip them out of existence—there are people out there who might learn from them... The gestalt section is priceless. Check out my favorite gestalt quote. And be sure to browse through the Meaningless Mindfulness section. And I guess you can look at the painfully personal stuff... I'm the one who put it up there...

Special thanks to Jenny and Finn for the great digital party photos.

Best wishes,
Leanne
