This set was part of the Mission Creek Music Festival. I really love this song and was glad to catch it on video. This was their last show for a while, as Ashley the bassist is having a baby.
I also got a great clip of them last summer at the Rickshaw. And I might put up an older clip of this particular song from last spring at the Make-Out Room because there was way less talking (but I accidentally covered the mic with my hand for half the song. I am an amateur!!)
(Whenever I hear quiter bands such as the Winechuggers, Low, Jolie Holland, Jonathan Richman, etc. I’m reminded how rude we collectively loud music-lovers are. I guess that’s why bands usually play super loud in order to cover up our drunken blabbermouths!)

These days, it’s not very often that I get to see a good goth band play. These guys made me feel like I was on the set of Donnie Darko hearing Echo and the Bunnymen at all the right moments.

My boyfriend’s band Aim Low Kid have been in the studio recording their album recently, and they were looking for something to put at the beginning of one of their songs. Luckily, my little 5-year-old roommate Julian saved the day with the best scream anyone could ask for.
(Unfortunately, they later on decided that the scream didn’t really work with the song, but I was glad to capture it on video none the less.)

Carta is very lulling, and I really love their instrumentation mixed with such grainy and utterly dark footage, which becomes more and more organic the more you look at it. The House of Sheilds is a very interesting place to see a band. There’s a wall of windows facing downtown San Francisco on one side, which has a cool effect on sound and visuals, and the stage is very intimate.

These guys were amazing!! This was the first song from their set, and as you can see, they had the audience hooked from the get-go and never let go. This footage is a great juxtaposition to the footage I got of their very first show in Indianapolis last year. I hope to see them in San Francisco again soon.

I was so happy that the Ebb & Flow agreed to play my found art show. I love the balls-out, super long intro on this one and how it takes half the song to build up. When Roshy Kheshti’s vocals do finally start, they’re yet another layer in the band’s unusual and undulating tapestry of sound.

I organized a couple of found art shows last year, and Aim Low Kid played the second one with the Ebb & Flow and Leyna Noel (whom I unfortunately didn’t get on video..) The slides that I projected behind the bands made for some interesting footage.

Ah, these guys will lull and seduce you with their cuteness and the soft sounds of their cello, lap-steel and regular guitars, drums and keyboards. They headlined the show, and Lines in Analog Sound and Aim Low Kid opened.
I really love the dark, muted quality of this footage combined with such a sweet lullaby. I wish this song would never end! Unfortunately, my batteries died before it was over, so I’m really sorry for the abrupt cut-off.

Chuck Gonzalez and Liz Ross make great music together, and this is one of my favorites of Chuck’s.
I love the way this footage turned out. It was so dark that my iMovie went crazy trying to lighten it, which made for some interesting waves of various colors that seem to complement the audio. (This coincidence is especially appropriate if you listen to the lyrics of this song, entitled “Superglow.”) They also played with the Winechuggers and Aim Low Kid.
